A couple from Veldhoven is sitting on the couch with a glass of wine on Sunday evening, June 18, around a quarter past eleven when four or five masked men storm into their house through the open back door. The two are badly beaten by the robbers and their dog is also kicked. No one in the house on the Biezenkuilen escapes the violence, as it turned out on Tuesday evening in the Opsporing Requested broadcast in which the victims told their story.
The lady of the house is thrown to the floor by the robbers in the kitchen and beaten. Her throat is also tightened. “When they didn’t get anything from me, they started working with my husband,” she says in the broadcast.
He then gets hit with something and was knocked out for a moment. When he sees one of the robbers kicking his dog moments later, he gets pissed off and pushes the robber. To which he is forced upstairs under the threat of a knife: ‘Are you walking’, he is told.
They find the vacation pay
The robbers, meanwhile, turn the couple’s house upside down looking for money and valuables. Among other things, they find about a thousand euros that the two have put aside especially for the upcoming holiday. A family vacation with their teenage son, which they are ready for after a few difficult years. Since he had a heart attack in 2019, she has been very worried about him. But this holiday is really something they look forward to with their son.
When the robbers are upstairs with her husband, she manages to escape and call the police at the neighbors. Just before the alerted officers reach the house, the robbers take off. Presumably after they hear some noise in the street.
Son totally upset
At about the same time, the couple’s son also arrives home. He sees his fat-faced father and his mother all blue, a mess in the house and a shivering dog. “He was completely upset,” says his mother.
In the broadcast it becomes clear that the four or five perpetrators, who spoke poor Dutch and English, probably fled in a dark Opel Vectra, built between 2003 and 2005. The license plate contains the letter combination LD and the number 20. In what order is not clear.
The investigation program also shows images of a man, possibly one of the robbers, who appears to be exploring the street just before the robbery. It could also be a casual passerby, according to the police. But despite an earlier call, he has not yet reported to the police.
Hints
After the broadcast of Opsporing Verzoeken, the police received about twenty tips. A spokesperson could not say anything about the content of this on Wednesday morning. She does indicate that the police are still looking for more information.
