“Even Maud didn’t see this coming”

Hans (69), horse breeder

A middle-aged couple in a hotel bed: for a moment I thought I was watching a new season of Bed & Breakfast sat watching, until Annette choked on her gravy as Hans announced what a wild night the two had had. No, these are not people who complain about a missing towel hook or a toilet paper holder that hangs too high or too low: the horse breeder had to wait a long time for love and now he started to enjoy it too!

The ever cheerful Annette also beamed from ear to ear. The castle, the dinner, the boat trip, the churches: everything was perfect! Well, everything… The greenkeeper is still busy patching up the sod left by the farmer, but his lack of golf talent doesn’t stop the brunette from falling head over heels in love. Or did she say love?

Jouke was on vacation and didn’t feel like delving into some old guy on a pedestal. The Frisian preferred to have a few beers with his sultry blonde. Or well, a few… It was a minor miracle that the two found their hotel room.

When the cow farmer and Karlijn had washed away their thirst and had calmed the stomach with breakfast (no Brinta unfortunately), they went ‘winter sports’. I put this in quotes because Ons Yvon apparently doesn’t know that you need snow for that. But hey, who cares. YOU’RE IN LOVE! And Karlijn brings out the best in him.

Such a city trip is not only the perfect moment to turn caterpillars into butterflies, it is also an opportunity to eat something that the pot normally does not have. I couldn’t figure out from his mumbling which exotic food Sander de Fries couldn’t swallow (why is Hans subtitled and Sander not?), but I looked it up for you and it turned out to be an OLIVE.

The shepherdess from the Burgundian south thought it was a bit funny that the Frisian had never seen an olive in his life. She giggled, but there was still no real flirting. Was she shy or in love, Sander wondered. There turned out to be a third V: her past. When the hobby farmer suggested to come to Limburg every weekend from now on, the blonde had her umpteenth panic attack. Although Sander is done with the superglue, I don’t think he’s the man who can heal her broken heart.

Rob (52), fruit grower

De Gelderlander had a fear of heights, so that he could look unabashedly into Wendy’s eyes on the Ferris wheel. The blonde wanted to JUMP out of the bowl and slid to the farthest corner, but couldn’t escape the fruit grower. The cherry farmer was enjoying and was even more in love than he already was, but flirty-Wendy remained elusive. She felt a little guilty about that, after all, she had written to him.

She decided to allow the farmer a little more. But yes, give the man a finger and Rob & Roll picks up his guitar. He wanted Wen her true colors was going to show her, but when she confessed color and told Rob didn’t set her on fire, the farmer was not amused† According to him, it was not about attraction, but DEPTH. I understand that he dreams of a happily ever after with Wen, but deep down Rob also knows that it doesn’t work if one loves the other more. The farmer wants to be loved and he deserves it. Fortunately, there is still a mail bag full of love waiting at home.

The Drent and hammock-Maud had such a good CONNECTION that they unanimously decided to sleep together. The woman with the Gooische R knew that the feeling was right, but she wanted to be honest and get to know the farmer at speed. She felt something, tension… But Evert wasn’t tense, really not. The wine was just a bit dry. That was also the only thing that was dry, because it came pouring out of the air in the Croatian city of Split.

Where the Drent already exceeded my expectations last week by sitting in a hammock, he now went the extra mile by kissing his Maud in the pouring rain at the waterfall.

And now? A great thinker once said: it’s not a step from the kitchen to the hall, but de Drent was curious if Maud was willing to leave her dogs in the Randstad. She hadn’t done that yet. The sun broke through (“a sign from nature”), her hand was on his coal shovel and she lived in the moment. And in that here and now the Drent suddenly said those three words, those eleven letters, which he had wanted to say to someone all his life: ‘I love you’. And even Maud didn’t see that coming.

PS. Next week colleague and bodFan Chanan tell how it turned out for the farmers.

Elselien van Dieren (31) forces her boyfriend Farmer seeks wife to watch. Horse posters used to hang in her room, but she resolutely removed them when she was bitten by a pony.
