Playing tennis, cycling and gardening. Anneke Jonkers (84) from Havelte does not like to sit still. “If you sit on a chair, you start to worry. And that really shouldn’t be the case.” In the second episode of 80 Beautiful program maker Marjorie Noë will spend a day with her.
Jonkers has been on the move from an early age. First at the gym and korfball club and later on the tennis court. “The mayor had a concrete court built behind the town hall. I started there when I was fourteen, with a wooden racket with gut covering. You had to be careful that it didn’t get too wet.”
Jonkers is still on the tennis court twice a week. At the Havelter Tennis Club she has a permanent group of people she plays with. “I think it’s dellicious.”
In 80 Beautiful we follow six lively octogenarians. The series can be seen every Monday on TV Drenthe and online.
