Evacuation of dozens of people after gas leak: ‘Mist of gas sprayed from the pipe’

About twenty people were removed from their homes by order of the fire brigade around a quarter past ten on Monday evening after a gas leak had started on Nieuwlandstraat in Tilburg. They were received in a city cafe.

A 112 correspondent says that the Nieuwlandstraat had already been broken open due to the replacement of the gas pipes. “The leak was so big that a mist of gas spewed from the broken gas pipe.”

Sleeping place
It would take hours to plug the gas leak. That is why the municipality of Tilburg arranged a place to sleep for the local residents in a hotel.
