Tennis player Tamara Korpatsch has reached the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Cluj-Napoca. The 28-year-old won 3:6, 6:2, 6:4 against Darija Snigur from Ukraine and will face her Hamburg colleague Eva Lys in a German duel in the semifinals.
Korpatsch showed a very similar performance against Snigur as in the round of 16 the day before. The right-hander found her way into the game slowly and gave up the first set. Korpatsch then turned up the heat, secured the second round in a quick run and remained strong in the deciding set.
Lys followed suit in the afternoon with a clear win against Ekaterina Makarova. The 21-year-old beat number 213 in the WTA rankings 6:2, 6:2, thus completing a final with German participation in Transylvania.
Lys had previously defeated, among others, the number one ranked local hero Sorana Cirstea.
