‘Eva Jinek’s salary structure causes commotion, NPO bobo rears’

Rob Goossens states that one of the bosses at the public broadcaster, Gijs van Beuzekom, has expressed his objections about a salary structure for Eva Jinek. “He distances himself.”

There have been rumors for some time now about a salary structure for Eva Jinek now that she returns to the public broadcaster. At RTL she reportedly earned 1.2 million euros per year, but at the NPO there is a salary ceiling of 200,000 euros. There are useful tricks to get around this, but Eva firmly denies using those tricks.

Rob chases Eva

Rob Goossens, expert from RTL Boulevard, is currently investigating Eva’s new production partner MediaLane. “Yes, I’m still not sure. I am… There are some people involved who seem to be getting nervous, so I will get some more information,” he says in The BLVD Podcast.

MediaLane is a relatively large production house owned by the daughter of Joop van den Ende. “And secretly everyone whispers – and the whispering gets louder and louder – that it is actually from Joop himself. And Joop made one of his best business decisions in his early years, namely to simply hire presenters.”

Joop construction

It is the so-called Joop construction. “Because if a channel had to order a program, he would say: ‘With that presenter? Yes, but then you have to pay attention, because I have exclusivity on that presenter.’ And of course there is nothing wrong with that, because they are simply commercial agreements.”

Only then did the NPO come up with a salary maximum. “You are not allowed to earn more than the Prime Minister there, which is very understandable as far as I am concerned, but in practice it is not very feasible, because producers can simply earn what they want and therefore presenters now suddenly became producers, if they were.”

Just like Matthijs

If a piece of the production pie goes to Eva, no one will notice. “We know that Matthijs van Nieuwkerk also did that. Stories vary about what amounts are involved, but that would be considerable, so that also goes well over the maximum of the public broadcaster, but then it is officially allowed.”

He continues: “And the story goes that Eva Jinek was brought to the NPO with the same construction. Well, obviously, everyone involved strongly denies it. Even though it is allowed, they also feel: even if it were true, you would rather not have it known.”

Gijs rears up

Rob has heard that one of the NPO bosses is protesting. “I doubt whether we should believe the people who say: ‘It’s really not true’, because yes, I really want to believe them, only now, for example, I heard this week that the journalism genre manager at the NPO, Gijs His name is Van Beuzenkom, he said something.”

What then? “From: ‘Well, I don’t want to participate in this kind of joking. So yes, not on my watch.’ And now Eva Jinek’s entire program is no longer classified as journalism, such as De Wereld Draait Door, Khalid & Sophie, De Vooravond, Op1 and all programs with which you can compare. But now it is suddenly a cultural programme.”

Not on my watch

Luuk Ikink thinks this sounds a bit suspicious. “So that it is no longer the responsibility of Gijs?”

Rob: “Yes, so Gijs does not have to answer for a construction that he does not want to put his name to.”

What does Eva think about all this? Definitely messy work.
