Eva Jinek sees the pressure from outside increasing while her mega contract with RTL 4 expires. “She has not proven that she is irreplaceable. In fact, when Beau is there, more people are watching!”
It is an open secret that Eva Jinek still earns 1.2 million euros a year at RTL 4, but her contract will expire at the end of this year. She will be going on holiday again in a few weeks, she will give birth to her second baby in September and will therefore not be on the channel for the rest of the year. In the meantime, she has to negotiate her contract.
Jinek replaceable
AD media journalist Marcus den Blanken seems to join the critics who fear that Eva cannot continue under the same conditions. “Eva Jinek has never proven that the public is visibly waiting for her more than, for example, Beau van Erven Dorens or, well, whoever you put in that place,” he says in the AD Media podcast.
He continues: “She doesn’t score significantly higher than those other names. If RTL decides not to renew her contract, it simply has to do with the fact that she has not brought in that extra that was expected from Eva Jinek in the beginning.”
Do not agree with
What does his colleague Angela de Jong think of that? “Well, I don’t quite agree with you. Beau was sitting there in that spot and he scored really sadly with that program. And Eva, no matter how you look at it, has breathed new life into that time slot together with her editorial staff and the company behind it.”
She continues: “And those are not the ratings that I think we all had thought when she would sit there. Certainly not at the moment. But the fact that there is life again in that late-night time slot at RTL is because of her.”
‘Beau scores better’
Marcus: “Well, I agree with you. Only now she has not proven that she is not replaceable. In principle: when Beau is there, it often goes even better than when she is there.”
Angela: “Beau has the sympathy of the RTL viewer anyway. And of course that brings in a little more show mastership. Of course they can also do something more there. He can walk around there and have a shot put in and do crazy things with people in the audience. Ewa is more the journalist after all. And I think that always wrings a bit at RTL.”
Meager score
Eva Jinek managed to captivate 513 thousand viewers (13.5 percent market share) on the late evening of RTL 4 yesterday, not nearly enough for a place in the viewing figure top fifteen. Today Inside was the most watched talk show with 998 thousand viewers (21 percent) and is even in the top five.
Viewing figures expert Tina Nijkamp: “These are problematic figures for Jinek. Jinek had 720 thousand viewers exactly one year ago, now 513 thousand. How much lower will it get? Will this talk show soon be below 500 thousand viewers? Jinek also scores worryingly in the 20 to 54 years with a market share of 11.8 percent.”
