Eva Jinek absolutely does not agree with a move from RTL 4 to the much smaller SBS 6, if those stations indeed become sister channels. That is what TV connoisseur Rob Goossens expects.
No one will have noticed that Eva Jinek is a lot less visible since her lucrative transfer from the NPO to RTL. Weekly magazine Weekend wonders whether she still wants to continue with her late talk show, since she finds it very difficult to combine with her family life. She feels guilty for leaving her son behind.
Downgrade to SBS 6
Tina Nijkamp, former channel boss of SBS 6, thinks it will be good news for Eva if the big ‘merger’ in TV land continues. If SBS 6 is soon also from RTL, then Eva can start making television at the time of HLF8, she tips. “I think that would be better to combine in connection with the children getting up early.”
A nice idea, but Eva will never agree to that, Rob Goossens expects. The TV connoisseur of RTL Boulevard thinks that Eva would see that as a huge degradation. “I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I really can’t imagine Eva Jinek accepting to be relegated to SBS 6.”
Early talk show
A talk show in the evening is actually a bit too overrated, says Rob. He thinks that Hilversum has come to attach too much importance to this due to the great success of De Wereld Draait Door, but the successors M and Khalid & Sophie have of course not been successful at all.
Rob: “The eve as a talk show slot has of course not turned out to be as sacred as we thought due to the success of De Wereld Draait Door. Games are especially good. And of course RTL 4 has a luxury problem because we are there, of course it is.”
‘Renze passed’
Moreover, Eva is on vacation so often that she cannot fill a time slot on her own. For the late evening, in addition to Beau van Erven Dorens, two other presenters have been called in: Humberto Tan and Renze Klamer. The painful thing for Eva is that they all score about the same number of viewers and with that she has made herself quite interchangeable.
Renze has also performed well in recent weeks as the latest addition to the late evening, says Rob. “I actually think it was successful. It’s so short, you can’t really draw any big conclusions. What I think was very important for him to show is that he really does bring some personality.”
Monologue
However, there is still room for improvement at Renze, says Rob. “Not all have been equally successful. In his first week, for example, he held a monologue about healthcare fraud à la Arjen Lubach. Arjen Lubach always does it with graphics in the background and very dynamically. Renze did it on his own without anything else.”
According to Rob, he shouldn’t do that anymore. “It did get very dry.”
