Eva (32) suffered the most painful condition there is after a banal operation: “It was as if I was on fire inside”

It all started with keyhole surgery on her left knee ten years ago. But when Eva Fierens (32) from Lokeren in East Flanders experienced more and more pain during her rehabilitation instead of less, it turned out that something completely different was going on. After a long search came the diagnosis of CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome): a rare nerve disorder that causes such searing pain that it is known as the ‘suicide disease’. There was no cure, she was told. Until she read an article on HLN that changed her life.
