Eurozone unemployment rate hit all-time low of 6.6 percent in February

LUXEMBOURG (Dow Jones)–Unemployment in the euro zone remained at record lows in February. As reported by the European statistics authority Eurostat, the unemployment rate remained at the revised level of the previous month of 6.6 percent. A provisional value of 6.7 percent had been reported for January.

The all-time low of 6.6 percent was recorded in October 2022. In autumn, European statisticians recorded the lowest unemployment in the euro countries since they began recording them 25 years ago. Economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast a rate of 6.7 percent for February.

In the entire EU-27, the unemployment rate was 6.0 (previous month: 6.1) percent. According to Eurostat estimates, 11.142 million people were unemployed in the euro area and 13.120 million in the EU as a whole in February. The Eurostat figures are seasonally adjusted data determined according to the criteria of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
