Eurozone: Retail sales fall slightly

Eurozone retail sales fell slightly in July. Revenues fell by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month, as the European statistical office Eurostat announced in Luxembourg on Wednesday. On average, economists had expected the development. The decline follows a 0.2 percent rise in the previous month.

Fuel sales were weak in July, falling by 1.2 percent. On the other hand, sales of food and beverages increased. More was also sold with goods outside of the food trade. Mail order and internet trade increased significantly by 3.8 percent. (dpa)
