Eurozone: Retail sales decline slightly

Eurozone retail sales fell slightly in September. Revenues fell by 0.3 percent compared to the previous month, as the European statistics office Eurostat announced on Wednesday in Luxembourg. On average, economists had only expected a decline of 0.2 percent.

The decline follows a revised 0.7 percent decline in July. A more significant decline of 1.2 percent was initially determined here.

Compared to the same month last year, sales fell by 2.9 percent in September. A decline of 3.1 percent was expected here.

Most retail sectors fell compared to the previous month. Only revenue from food and beverages increased.(dpa)
