Eurozone: Retail increases sales slightly

Eurozone retailers slightly increased their sales in May. Compared to the previous month, revenues increased by 0.2 percent, as reported by the Eurostat statistics office in Luxembourg on Wednesday. Analysts had expected a somewhat clearer increase of 0.4 percent. Compared to the same month of the previous year, sales increased by 0.2 percent, as in the monthly comparison.

While sales of groceries fell by 0.3 percent from April to May, sales of other goods rose significantly by 1.2 percent. The mail order business, like the gas stations, did a little worse business overall. (dpa)
