Eurozone inflation falls for first time in more than a year, but still 10 percent | Economy

For the first time in seventeen months, the increase in the cost of living is slowing down. But inflation, on the other hand, remains exceptionally high. Just like in recent months, energy prices in particular are swinging out of control. There is an increase of 34.9 percent in energy prices, although that was even higher in October (+41.5 percent).

Inflation for food, alcohol and tobacco was 13.6 percent, compared to 13.1 percent in October. The price increase of non-industrial goods remained stable at 6.1 percent and inflation for services slowed down by 0.1 percentage point to 4.2 percent.

The inflation rate excluding energy parked at 7 percent in November and the inflation rate excluding energy and unprocessed food at 6.6 percent. Inflation without energy, food, tobacco and alcohol does not increase any further, but remains the status quo at 5 percent.

For Belgium, 10.5 percent inflation is shown in the tables, compared to 13.1 percent in October. Eurostat does use a different calculation method than Statbel, including for the price of fuel oil. The Belgian statistics office already reported on Tuesday that inflation has fallen to 10.63 percent, compared to 12.27 percent in October.
