Eurowings plane to Graz returns to Palma due to technical problems

PALMA (dpa-AFX) – A Eurowings passenger plane was forced to return to Mallorca airport shortly after taking off for Graz on Thursday due to technical problems. The airport in Palma and Eurowings confirmed this when asked. The airline emphasized that at no time was there any danger to the crew and 169 passengers of flight 6870. This is the second time in a short space of time that this plane has had to return to Palma. Two months ago, a collision with birds forced the pilot to turn.

According to Spanish media reports, the pilot noticed that the plane was losing brake fluid shortly after takeoff at around 2:30 p.m. When asked, Eurowings only spoke of “technical problems”. The plane made a few laps around 60 kilometers east of the airport and then returned to the airport. The airport had activated the usual emergency protocol, but the landing went smoothly. The passengers were rebooked on other flights./rpz/ro/DP/men
