Status: 09.02.2023 9:11 p.m

The German track cyclists, used to being successful, missed out on the gold medal they had hoped for in the team pursuit at the European Championships in Switzerland. The three Tokyo Olympic champions Franziska Brauße, Lisa Klein and Mieke Kröger as well as Laura üßmilch still secured third place in the small final against France.

Shortly before, Maximilian Dörnbach had given the Bund Deutscher Fahrrad (BDR) the first bronze medal of the day. The 27-year-old from Cottbus finished third in the 1000 m time trial in 59.778 seconds and was only beaten by Dutchman Jeffrey Hoogland (58.203) and Alejandro Martinez (Spain/59.687).

Tim Torn Teutenberg clearly missed out on medals this time

The European title in the team pursuit went to the women from Great Britain, who prevailed against the reigning world champions from Italy in a chaotic final. The German men, consisting of Benjamin Boos, Nicolas Heinrich, Tobias Buck-Gramcko and Theo Reinhardt, finished sixth in Italy’s victory.

Tim Torn Teutenberg (20), who had secured the first German EM gold in the qualifying race the day before, clearly missed the medal ranks this time and finished tenth in the points race. His sister Lea Lin finished fifth in the elimination race. In addition to Teutenberg, the sprint women Emma Hinze, Pauline Grabosch and Lea Sophie Friedrich also won gold on Wednesday.
