European Road Cycling Championships: the news Venturelli is the first Italian ace

The European road championships start tomorrow in Drenthe (Holland). Five days of competitions that will end on Sunday with the men’s elite road race with Italy focusing on Ganna. The most dangerous opponents will be the Belgian Van Aert and the Danish Pedersen. Meanwhile today the blue contingent drops the first aces of the Dutch expedition. On the program there are time trials (junior, under 23 and elite women and men). The first medal hopes are pinned on Federica Venturelli in the junior women’s time trial (9 hours). In the summer, the 18-year-old from Cremona won bronze in the category time trial at the Glasgow World Championships while in the road race she finished in 4th place. At 2.30 pm it will be the turn of the elite women’s test with Vittoria Guazzini. In 2022 in Wollongong (Australia), the Tuscan won the rainbow time trial jersey in the under 23 category. In the men’s field, all eyes are on Luca Giaimi, who won gold and set a world record with the quartet at the Junior World Championships in July. For him he will try the junior time trial scheduled for 10.25am.
