Handball Bundesliga team TSV Hannover-Burgdorf has in the European League celebrated a confident opening victory. The “Recken” won at HC Kriens-Luzern on Tuesday evening (October 17th, 2023) with 31:23 (13:13). SG Flensburg-Handewitt also met an opponent from Switzerland – and celebrated a 46:32 (25:11) win against Kadetten Schaffhausen.Edgervictory.
It was a wild back and forth between the two teams. The score was 8:5 after just nine minutes for the SG, who relied on quick counterattacks and Emil Jakobsen stood out with three goals in that phase. You could already guess where the journey was going. Defensively, the Swiss champions delivered a revelation and conceded one goal after the next. Flensburg was able to act as it wanted – after just 30 minutes the game was virtually decided at 25:11. Top scorer Lasse Kjaer Möller had already scored seven goals at the break, and by the final whistle the Danish world champion had increased his tally to eleven goals.
Despite the clear lead, Flensburg did not let up in the second half and continued to successfully find their way to the Swiss goal, where Zoran Markovic was also shown a red card. It was only in the last few minutes that the SG slowed down and had to concede a few more goals.
Hannover needs a run-through
