Tennis crime thrillers, Bayern reaction, handball fairy tales, Klopp showdowns and basket hunter derbies – real sports fans can spend this Wednesday completely in front of the TV without being bored for a second. Here is the schedule for Super Sports Day on television.
The most important things at a glance
Tennis: Zverev against Alcaraz
We start with tennis straight after breakfast coffee. A really big challenge awaits Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open with world number two Carlos Alcaraz. In the previous round, Zverev had to torment himself over five sets against the Briton Cameron Norrie, while Alcaraz cleaned up the Serb Kezmanovic in three sets. Alcaraz will have significantly less muscle soreness when he has to compete against Zverev at 9 a.m. German time (Eurosport broadcasts live).
A best-of-five match can take a long time – you have to make time for it until the early afternoon. Afterwards it’s time to relax. At 8:30 p.m. an important decision has to be made: At the same time, the kick-off sounds in the last main round game for the German handball players and in the important catch-up game between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin.
Germany’s handball players: showdown against Croatia
The handball players need a win against Croatia in order to be able to continue dreaming of the title at the home European Championship. The clear victory over Hungary on Monday gave hope, and the Lanxess Arena in Cologne will once again stand as one behind national coach Alfred Gislason’s team (here’s how to watch Germany against Croatia live on TV).
FC Bayern: Detention against the “Iron”
If you prefer the Bavarians from Munich (or of course the Eisernen from Köpenick), you need a Sky subscription at the same time. The pay-TV channel will show the Bundesliga catch-up game between FC Bayern Munich and 1. FC Union Berlin from 8:30 p.m. Bayern have to win in order not to lose touch with Bayer Leverkusen – Union must not lose in order not to fall deep into the relegation vortex again.
Klopp wants to reach the final with Liverpool
That’s not all: there’s a lot at stake for Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool FC on this packed day of sports. The Reds are in the semi-finals of the English League Cup against Fulham FC. Liverpool won the first leg 2-1 at home, now Fulham has to fight back (DAZN from 9 p.m.).
Derby in the NBA: Lakers against Clippers
And if you want to get up early BEFORE Super Sports Wednesday: At nighttime there will be the California derby in the North American professional league NBA between the Lakers (with LeBron James) and the Clippers, both from Los Angeles. There will be thick air under the baskets (DAZN from 4 a.m. on Tuesday to Wednesday).
