European Handball Championship: Sweden beats France and follows Spain to the final – European Handball Championship – Handball

When France led 6-2 against Sweden after a few minutes on Friday evening (01/28/22) in Budapest, everything looked like a clear victory for the French. But Sweden came back – mainly thanks to three goalkeeping goals from Andreas Palicka.

The Swedes got close to the opponents at half-time except for one goal. But in the middle of the second half, the four-time European champions from Scandinavia turned the game around and made it into the final (Sunday, January 30th, 2022, 6 p.m.) thanks to the superb performance of Jim Gottridsson and his nine goals.

Spain defeats nemesis Denmark

Spain had previously entered the final. The Spaniards defeated world champions Denmark 29-25 in the semifinals and now have a chance to claim the title for the third straight year.

Especially Spain’s goalie Gonzalo Perez de Vargas did an excellent job on Friday (01/28/2022) and with 13 saves was support for the slight outsiders. In the first half of the game, his opponent, Niklas Landin, showed a great performance with lots of reflexes. But this time the Danes had a problem converting their chances.
