European gas price shoots up further due to war in Ukraine, also new record for heating oil

European gas prices rose by more than 30 percent this morning on fears that the war in Ukraine will lead to disruptions to Russian gas supplies to Europe. The price hike followed Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak’s threat to suspend gas supplies to Europe by shutting down the Nord Stream 1 pipeline if the West bans Russian oil imports. The price for a liter of domestic heating oil (50S) will rise to a new record tomorrow.
