European flight safety is declining: pilots fall asleep in cockpit, staff are pressured to work when sick

The safety of European flights has declined in recent years, airline staff say. This is evident from a yet unpublished study by Sweden’s Karolinska University, in which 10,000 pilots, stewards and stewardesses were interviewed, and on which the Dutch research program ‘Zembla’ was able to get its hands on. Some pilots even told ‘Zembla’ that they sometimes fall asleep during a flight.
