After the first two quarters, Germany leads 3-0 against the European champions from the Netherlands. The German keeper Jean-Paul Danneberg from Rot-Weiss Köln has always been able to make saves against the Dutch attackers and has kept the box clean so far. The European Championship tournament in Mönchengladbach is something very special for the two German internationals Mats and Tom Gambusch. The two brothers grew up in Mönchengladbach and played for Gladbacher HTC until 2013. In the first game against Wales, Tom Grambusch scored for a 3-1 lead.

The Netherlands started the tournament perfectly as reigning champions. The 2021 European champions deservedly won their opening game against France 6-0. Head coach Delmee Jeroen’s team is in first place in Group B with three points and a goal difference of plus six. But hit the world number 15. late and was able to score after a penalty corner (49th) and through Jack Pritchard (58th) to make it 3:3. So Germany, who surprisingly won the world championship against Belgium in January, is already challenged in the second group game against the European champions from the Netherlands, because only the top two in the group make it to the semi-finals.
