European fashion institutions set up joint association

25 European fashion institutions have joined together to form a joint association, the “European Fashion Alliance” (EFA). This strong, new network aims to connect and change the European fashion landscape.

At a two-day summit in Frankfurt at the end of March 2022, the Fashion Council Germany brought together the leading European fashion institutions and founded the new association with the support of Messe Frankfurt and the global Texpertise Network.

EFA wants to make the fashion industry more sustainable, innovative and inclusive

This was inspired by the words of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel, who called for a strengthening of the fashion industry across Europe. Accordingly, the new alliance sees itself as a strong, unified voice committed to a more sustainable, innovative and inclusive creative future for the European fashion industry.

“The fashion industry is a key industry for creative design. I know that you have come together today to discuss, among other things, the establishment of a European fashion alliance. Personally, I think this is a great idea and you can count on my support,” Gabriel said at the March 23 summit.

The founding members of the new European fashion association include two institutions each from Belgium and France, three from Spain and one each from Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Ireland, Iceland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria and Portugal , Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia and the Global Fashion Agenda.

EFA members invite like-minded organizations to support and join the association’s mission. The next summit will take place during Gran Canaria Swim Week by Mode Calida from 18th to 21st October 2022.
