European drug mafia top man arrested during holiday in Ibiza News

Spanish police have arrested a member of the highest echelons of the European drug mafia in Ibiza. It concerns the Swede Jonas Sture Falk (49), known as ‘the Swedish Pablo Escobar’. He was arrested in a beach bar and is said to be working with Fikri Amellah (30) and the mocro mafia. Although everyone knows what he’s doing, the Swede is known for being hard to catch. He was released after one day.

Jonas Sture Falk (49) is one of the top figures of the global drug mafia. He would act as a kind of banking and consultancy bureau for drug criminals. The Swede has been making tons of money for decades by connecting drug traffickers. According to the newspaper ‘El Espanyol’, he is then paid with part of the proceeds of the drug trade. He invariably lets others do the dirty work.

According to Swedish media, Falk started his career as a criminal at a young age as a car thief. He then switched to armed robbery and suffered several convictions. After that, he focused on drug trafficking.

Escaped from 18 years in prison

The man was arrested in 2010 in Bogota, Colombia. During the ‘Operation Playa’ trial, the largest drug investigation ever in Sweden, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison. However, the Court of Appeal acquitted him across the board.

In Spain, just over a year ago, Falk was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for laundering money derived from drug trafficking. He also appealed that sentence.

Last week Falk was on holiday in Ibiza. According to the newspaper ‘Periodico de Ibiza’, he had been followed for months. On Thursday, he was sitting with company at a table in a beach bar in San Antonio, when the police suddenly knocked him to the ground. Police released video footage of the arrest and showed cocaine seized.

According to an investigation by the Spanish, Swedish, French and Dutch police in collaboration with Europol, Jonas Falk is said to be a crucial link in a drug network that ships large quantities of cocaine to Europe via Venezuela.

Mocromafia

Simultaneously with the arrest of the Swede, two members of the Dutch ‘mocromafia’ were arrested in Spain. The wealthy but sober drug lord Fikri Amella (30), who was arrested last year in a shabby flat in Barcelona, would also belong to the network. He is already in jail and was visited by the police.

Jonas Falk just happened to have landed in the crosshairs of the police this time. During an investigation into Colombian drug trafficker Julio Andrés Murillo Figueroa, who used to work for Pablo Escobar, police monitored a gathering of drug traffickers.

Accounting discovered

This gave the police insight into the structure of the organisation. In the same investigation, a house search in Barcelona found a kind of ‘bookkeeping’ that links Jonas Falk to the discovery of 3 tons of cocaine in the city of Huelva in southern Spain.

Whether Jonas Falk will end up in prison this time remains to be seen. His lawyer told the Swedish Aftonbladet that his client was questioned by the police and then released. “I cannot say anything about the reason for his release,” said lawyer Clara Martinez Nogues.
