European Championships: Para-canoeist Müller wins European Championship gold

The German para-canoeist Edina Müller won the gold medal at the European Championships in Munich.

The Paralympics winner from Tokyo prevailed on the last day of competition on the regatta course in Oberschleißheim in the starting class KL1 ahead of her competitors from Italy and the Ukraine. At the World Championships two weeks ago, the athlete from the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) only finished fourth.

“The reparation from the World Championships worked. I got off to a good start and it worked out great. I was really able to implement everything. It’s a super nice end to the season for me,” said Müller.

The para-canoeists end the European Championships with four medals. Lillemor Köper and Esther Bode had already won gold and silver in the VL1 starting class on Friday. Katharina Bauernschmidt (VL2) also secured the bronze medal.

“It was great what everyone did here. Of course, the European title is the icing on the cake,” said national coach Andre Brendel.
