European Championship qualification: DBB women’s basketball team beat Bosnia-Herzegovina in Weißenfels

The German women’s basketball team secured their next victory against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the European Championship qualifier in Weißenfels. In Group A, the DBB team took the lead. It could be the Germans’ first participation in the European Championship since 2011.

The German basketball players have reported back with a remarkable success in qualifying for the EM 2023. The team of national coach Walt Hopkins clearly defeated the previously unbeaten table leader Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Weißenfels town hall with 97:58 (49:39). In front of more than 1,100 fans, Laura Schinkel from GISA LIONS MBC celebrated a successful debut in the senior national team with two points, two assists and a rebound.

On Sunday (7:00 p.m.) the selection of the German Basketball Association (DBB) plays in Skopje against hosts North Macedonia. After three of seven games, the DBB team has taken the lead in Group A with a 2-1 record, ahead of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belgium and North Macedonia. The ten group winners and the four best runners-up receive a ticket for the European Championship tournament in Slovenia and Israel. The DBB team was last at a European Championship in 2011.
