Portugal is again European champion futsal. In the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome, the Portuguese won the final against Russia (4-2). The Netherlands was already out in the group stage, but this European Championship has put the sport on the map. “Perhaps an option is to merge with BVs.”
At home on the couch, Mats Velseboer looks back on the European Championship. The Hovocubo international noticed that he received nice messages about his sport from all kinds of angles. “Gives a sense of pride.”
Futsal heart
An audience of millions watched the group matches of Orange on TV. So there seems to be a lot of interest in futsal. The KNVB has therefore provided an enormous boost with the organization of this tournament. While the iron is still hot, it is important to continue. “Of course money is important, although it is not just about that,” says Zaid el Morabiti. The coach of the Amsterdam indoor football club Lebo has regularly joined the NOS as an analyst in recent weeks. “It is even more important to put people with a futsal heart in the right places, because that is not happening at the moment.”

From February 18, part two of the national competition will start. And that means that the North Holland teams Lebo, Hovocubo, Volendam, Marlène and ‘t Veerhuys will compete in the championship group for the title. NH Sport is here and follows these matches closely.
