European car sales decline further in 2021 due to chip shortages

A shortage of semiconductors has caused the European car market to shrink for the second year in a row, new figures from ECEA, the European association of car manufacturers. In 2021, 9.7 million new cars rolled out of the showrooms. That is 200,000 fewer than in 2020, but more than 3 million fewer than in 2019, the year prior to the pandemic.
