Europe wants to give consumers ‘right to recovery’ up to 10 years after purchase

To put an end to the practice of replacing defective consumer goods with a new one all too easily, the European Commission wants to introduce a ‘right to repair’. This should ensure that all those goods can be repaired up to 5 to 10 years after the date of purchase, even if the warranty period has expired. Only when the defect is too serious will producers be able to escape the obligation.
