The Greek football record champions Olympiacos Piraeus also missed their first win in the Europa League group of Bundesliga club SC Freiburg at the second attempt.
Three weeks after their 2-3 home defeat at the start of the preliminary round against Freiburg, the Hellenes had to settle for a 2-2 (1-0) result in the duel against the still winless Serbs from TSC Backa Topola despite a 2-0 lead when they were outnumbered.
The home team, who lost their first group game at West Ham United 3-1, will have home advantage again for the first half of the season against Freiburg on October 26th (Thursday/6:45 p.m.). At the same time, Piraeus welcomes the English Conference League winners West Ham United.
Piraeus had supposedly taken a decisive lead thanks to goals from Georgios Masouras (16th) and Daniel Podence (57th).
However, Backa Topola came back through Ifet Djakovac (63′) and later used his advantage after a sending-off against Olympiacos defender Andreas Ntoi (72’/gross foul) to luckily equalize through ‘Joker’ Milos Pantovic (90′).
