Bayer Leverkusen will play against Qarabaq Agdam in the round of 16 of the Europa League, as they did in the group phase. There will also be a new edition at SC Freiburg – against West Ham United.
This was the result of the draw on Friday (February 24th, 2024) in Nyon at the UEFA headquarters. Freiburg lost both games against West Ham in the group stage. In London, the team from the Premier League retained the upper hand 2-0, in Breisgau 2-1. Leverkusen, on the other hand, scored six points against Qarabaq. After a 5-1 win in the first leg, there was a 1-0 win in Azerbaijan.

Leverkusen reached the round of 16 as group winners. SC Freiburg survived the playoffs and, after a successful comeback, prevailed against the French club RC Lens.
There were two pots in the draw. One contained the tickets for the group winners, the other for the playoff winners. The group winners have home advantage in the second leg. Teams from a regional association were not allowed to be drawn against each other.
Round of 16 from March 7th
The round of 16 first legs will kick off on March 7th, 2024, the second legs on March 14th. The quarterfinals are scheduled for April 11th and 18th, the semifinals for May 2nd and 9th. The final will take place on May 22nd in Dublin.
Europa Conference League without German participation
There are no longer any German clubs represented in the Europa Conference League. Eintracht Frankfurt failed in the playoffs against Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise.
The round of 16 will be drawn in Nyon.
As in the Europa League, the round of 16 first legs will kick off on March 7th, 2024, the second legs on March 14th. The quarterfinals are scheduled for April 11th and 18th, the semifinals for May 2nd and 9th. The final will take place on May 29th in Athens.
