Europa League – 200 Rangers fans in the hotel: Tedesco is threatened with a restless night

Leipzig (AP) – RB Leipzig coach Domenico Tedesco is threatened with a restless night before the semi-final first leg in the Europa League against Glasgow Rangers.

“In my hotel they told me that they were expecting 200 Rangers fans there, so I will sleep in the academy for the next two days,” said Tedesco before the game on Thursday (9 p.m. / RTL +).

Around 7,000 Scottish football fans are expected in the city. The club immediately denied moving out of the hotel as a joke by the coach, who does not expect a preliminary decision in the first leg: “That will only be decided in Glasgow.”

The destination for RB Leipzig is Seville. The final will take place there on May 18, three days later they would meet Freiburg in the final of the DFB Cup. “We’ve already reached one final, now we want to get the second,” said Tedesco. The defeat on Saturday against Union Berlin came at the right time after 15 games without defeat. “We will learn from this and do better,” said the 36-year-old.

However, Tedesco has to rebuild his team. Willi Orban and Mohamed Simakan are both suspended in defence, and the same applies to playmaker Kevin Kampl in midfield. That’s why Tedesco is considering a system change on the defensive from a three-man to a four-man chain.
