The head of the Euronext stock exchange, Stephane Boujnah, is open to working with Deutsche Börse.

There is a lot that Deutsche Börse and euronext could tackle together, said Boujnah in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. Even if a merger between the two companies is not currently being considered.

“Deutsche Börse wants to remain independent, and at the same time Euronext is not for sale,” he added. There had already been discussions about a merger between the two companies. “But I observed that these discussions led to nothing,” said Boujnah. The background is the discussion about a European super exchange. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz recently called for a common European stock exchange.

Boujnah also sees companies as responsible for Europe’s future. “We need more interaction between companies in all sectors to build joint projects – and not wait for instructions from above. We can no longer wait for this to come from Ursula von der Leyen, Friedrich Merz or Emmanuel Macron. We have to let it happen ourselves,” he continued to tell the newspaper.
