The PayPal app on your mobile device is about to undergo a significant transformation, requiring users to adapt to the changes.
Currently being rolled out in Germany, PayPal is redesigning its app interface. The existing menu will be replaced with a simplified navigation system centered around three new tabs at the bottom of the screen: Home, Send, and Account.
Changes to the PayPal App
The Home Tab will provide an overview of your PayPal balance, rewards points, and any ongoing “Pay Later” transactions. Additionally, it will display relevant cashback offers and dealer deals from various sectors including fashion, electronics, and health.
The Send Tab will encompass all money-related activities such as sending, requesting funds, and setting up money pools. Meanwhile, the Account Tab will compile balance information, transaction history, subscriptions, and deliveries. For contactless payments, users can easily access the NFC functionality directly from the bottom navigation bar.
This revamped PayPal app is expected to be gradually rolled out in Germany over the coming weeks. While we haven’t yet experienced this update firsthand in our editorial office, images have been released by PayPal itself showcasing the new design.
PayPal as Your Constant Companion
According to a press release from PayPal, the app aims to become a “central companion throughout the entire purchasing process.” This means the app will not only facilitate payments but also inspire purchasing decisions with attractive offers, whether online or in-store.
Furthermore, familiar PayPal features will ensure a sense of security while shopping. These include biometric security measures and passkeys, along with PayPal’s Buyer Protection, to safeguard your interests should an order go wrong or if an item fails to arrive.
PayPal has become indispensable in many areas, playing a critical role in driving cash payments further into the background.
