German champions Rot-Weiss Köln have lost the final of the Euro Hockey League again and missed revenge against defending champions HC Bloemendaal.
The 2017 winner lost 1-0 to the defending champion on Easter Monday (April 10, 2023) in Amstelveen. Teun Beins (21st) scored the decisive goal for the Dutch. Last year, Cologne lost 4-0 to Bloemendaal in the final.
Shootouts led Cologne to the final
The Red-Whites beat Atletic Terrassa (Spain) 4:3 in the shootout thriller in the semifinals on Easter Sunday, after regular time the score was 3:3. In the penalty shoot-out, however, national team captain Mats Grambusch and Co. kept their nerves.
The German champions had already secured their ticket for the semi-finals on Friday in a shootout against league rivals Hamburger Polo Club (3-0).

The German champions at Düsseldorfer HC had previously been able to celebrate third place in the game. The Bundesliga club also beat Sanse Complutense from Spain 3-0 (0-0) in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, with goals scored by Argentinian vice-world champion Agustina Albertario (36th, 58th) and Sara Strauss (54th). .
The DHC narrowly missed the final on Sunday. In the semi-final against HC Den Bosch it had been 1-1 for a long time before the Dutch team scored the decisive goal in the 58th minute.
