Excited joy among the players of FC Volendam. After a season with many peaks and a few troughs, FC Volendam has secured Eredivisie football tonight. FC Den Bosch was defeated 2-1 in North Brabant. “Crazy, but we’re pulling the win.”
“I came for this,” says Daryl van Mieghem, who narrowly missed promotion with De Graafschap last year. “This was the mission we had. If it succeeds: fantastic!”
Bilal Ould-Chikh speaks of a deserved promotion. “I actually have no words for it. I am very happy. I was confident that we would win these matches. We did it together; with the supporters, with the staff and with the players of course.”
Next season FC Volendam will play against Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV again. “We don’t know yet whether it will be fun to play in the Arena,” laughs Van Mieghem.
