The European Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM) was established in October 2022 for an initial period of two years. The EU is responding to the Ukrainians’ request for assistance in the context of Russia’s invasion. The mission provides individual and group training to Ukrainian soldiers.
Belgium is one of the European countries that provide the training. A series of specialized training courses have already taken place or are planned, Defense recently said. This mainly happened in the domain of the land component and in the medical domain, both in Belgium and abroad. Training also took place within the framework of the international F-16 coalition for Ukraine.
The EUMAM mission is financed through the European Peace Facility (EPF). More than 34,000 soldiers have been trained since the start of the mission.
