EU countries are allowed to ask travelers for a corona pass for at least another year NOW

Although some EU countries no longer use the corona pass, they can still ask travelers for the QR code on arrival for at least a year. The European Parliament and the European member states decided to extend the validity of the pass until July 2023.

The corona pass is intended to allow free travel between EU member states. A QR code makes it clear whether someone has been vaccinated, has recently tested negative for the coronavirus or has recently recovered from COVID-19.

Several member states have announced in recent weeks that they will no longer ask for the corona pass. For example, all travelers can now enter Italy without a corona pass and European tourists can travel to Spain without a QR code.

The corona ticket is no longer necessary for people traveling from an EU country to the Netherlands. Travelers from outside the EU must still be able to show a valid vaccination certificate.
