EU and Japan sign digital partnership

TOKYO (dpa-AFX) – The European Union (EU) and Japan have launched a partnership to develop digital technologies, cyber security and artificial intelligence. “Leadership in this area is the key to our competitiveness and security,” said EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Tokyo on Thursday, following an EU-Japan summit. The digital partnership is the first of its kind between the EU and another country. Both sides also agreed to use their strategic partnership to strengthen and diversify supply chains, for example in semiconductors, as von der Leyen said./ln/DP/zb
