DakhaBrakha is one of the most famous bands from Ukraine and a big act in Eastern Europe. This is also due to their unique style, which they themselves have dubbed “Ethno-Chaos”. He combines influences of traditional Ukrainian folk songs with sound experiments that have their roots from Africa to Australia.
Accordingly, every gig by DakhaBrakha, who have already performed in the largest halls in the world and also played at the Glastonbury Festival this year, is one big surprise. The band acts as an ambassador for a cosmopolitan Ukraine that nevertheless proudly presents its own cultural foundations. The traditional instrumentation combined with the musicians’ emotional singing is a moving live experience.
DakhaBrakha was founded in 2004 in the Kiev Center for Contemporary Art “DAKH” – the name of the ensemble comes from the Old Russian words даха and браха, which mean “to give” and “to take”. The band performs for three concerts in Germany.
