Estavana Polman does not make the same mistake as Rob Kemps’

It is wise that Estavana Polman does not make the same mistake as Rob Kemps now that she succeeds him as the next big ‘new addition’ of SBS 6, says TV expert Rob Goossens.

For a while Rob Kemps was the big promise of SBS 6. With the emphasis on even. Nowadays he is called out by many people because he has abandoned his family with young children and his new romance is very extensively showcased on the socials. On to the next attempt: Estavana Polman.

Not like Rob

The chance that Rafael van der Vaart’s girlfriend will succeed is a lot bigger. Estavana has the goodwill factor and gets a program in which she can be herself: Better Late Than Never.

It is good that she has opted for a location program as a presentation debut, says TV connoisseur Rob Goossens. “I think it is absolutely right that they try this with her and I also think that if you are going to do something with a new presenter, you should not immediately take a studio program. What they did with Rob Kemps: immediately The Wheel.”

Colleague Luuk Ikink agrees in the BLVD Podcast: “Much too big, too difficult.”

‘It’s Reality’

Exactly, says Rob. “The beauty of a program like Beter Laat Dan Nooit… So you’re going on a trip with a group. It’s basically reality because you’re just recording all day and at the end of the day you’re looking at what’s stuck in your net. But that also means that a presenter can just grow a bit, make a mistake once.”

Luuk: “You can really be yourself.”

Rob: “Indeed, because you’re busy all day anyway, there’s no point in becoming a type. So the best thing you can do is just be yourself. And we have already seen on television that she is very nice.”

Nice person

Luuk grants Estavana success. “Yes, we always like to talk to her with Boulevard, because she always says something nice, something funny about Rafael. Everyone always thinks of her: what a nice woman, cozy. Yes, I totally agree with you. I think this is a perfect program for her as a debut.”

“I think you just always come out good. You saw that with all the other participants and the presenters too. They all turned out well too. It is just a sympathetic fun program too.”

Ranking the Stars

The celebrities who participate in Better Late Than Never are Ad Visser, Edwin Rutten, Frits Barend and Henny Huisman. “It is natural with such a program, just like with Ranking the Stars… When you are asked for Ranking the Stars, it is not necessarily an honor,” says Rob.

He concludes: “After all, there is probably a certain edge to it that makes them think: okay, you can really piss off about that. Here you know: there must be something of past glory hanging around you, otherwise you are not suitable for the program.”
