Essi Niskala claimed silver in Jerusalem.
Finland opened its medal account at the under-18 European Championships in athletics in Jerusalem, when Essi Niskala won European Championship silver in the 100-meter hurdles.
Niskala, 17, ran a time of 13.29 in the final. He ran the same time earlier in the semi-final earlier in the evening.
The time is his new own record.
– I feel pretty good, I still don’t understand this situation, Niskala said in the press release of the Finnish Sports Association.
– I don’t remember much about the run, it wasn’t the best, but not bad either.
The European Championship gold was won by a British player Mia McIntosh with a top time of 13.05, bronze went to Italy Sofia Pizzato at 13.33.
For Niskala, the European Championships were the first major competitions of her career.
– I expected a place in the final in advance, but after the semi-final I started to hope a little even for a medal. But I didn’t dare to think about it too much, Niskala said.

In other sports, women’s moukari Ilona Verho finished fourth with a score of 64.89, Elisabet Kujanpää was seventh with a result of 62.64.
Kyrpos took the EC gold Valentina Savva, who threw a score of 70.28. Cyprus got another medal, because Emilia Kolokotron took bronze with a score of 65.35. The silver medal went to Hungary Villő for Viszkeletwhich scored 69.11.
