ESL announces CS: GO tournament series for women

Riot Games had pioneered the “Game Changers” series in Valorant, and now the ESL is following suit: With the “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” Women’s Circuit, a separate tournament series for female players will start in 2022.

The new series is slated to begin in March with one offline league each for Europe and North America. After three months, the best teams will meet at a final event at Dreamhack Dallas in June.

The second season follows from August to October, with the final taking place at Dreamhack Winter in Sweden. Another tournament is to take place in July between the seasons at Dreamhack Valencia. A total of 500,000 US dollars in prize money is to be paid out over the three events.

As part of the “#GGforall” initiative, a female players’ council is also to be created. There will also be a discussion about the inclusion of the victorious teams in the ESL Pro Tour, which is not restricted to genders, but has so far been male-dominated. There is also a development program for new talented commentators for the broadcasts.
