Escaped poisonous snake is almost certainly behind a plaster wall in the house

The poisonous green mamba, which has been missing since Tuesday, is most likely ‘just’ at home in Tilburg. This is what snake expert Walter Getreuer says, who searched for the animal in the house with a sniffer dog. The snake is almost certainly behind a plaster wall in the owner’s house.

Last Tuesday, Walter Getreuer from Reptile Zoo Serpo went to the owner’s house with his sniffer dog. Then the escaped snake was not found. On Thursday, Getreuer made another attempt with his sniffer dog. Now with more success.

“The owner made holes in the wall. At one hole my dog sat down and hyperventilated. That is a very clear sign that he smells something. The dog also sat down near the tool the snake owner uses to attach the snake to grab.” There was mesh in front of the drilled holes, so that the sniffer dog could not be bitten, Getreuer explains.

‘Logical place’
The snake has not yet emerged from behind the wall. “But it is almost certain that the animal is behind that plaster wall. The snake probably started crawling. We saw heating pipes where the dog sat down. A snake is a tropical animal that needs warmth, so it place makes sense.”

The owner of the snake will continue to break down the wall in the hope of catching the green mamba. According to Getreuer, there are no exits to the outside. “So there is good hope that it will be found there.”

Freek Vonk
The escaped snake has caused a lot of commotion in recent days. The green mamba is almost two meters long and very poisonous. The municipality and police sounded the alarm and even Freek Vonk called for extra attention in Tilburg in a video on social media.

On Tuesday, Walter Getreuer also searched the house in Tilburg with his sniffer dog.
