Germany once again took last place at this year’s ESC on May 13th. The Hamburg metal band Lord of the Lost was apparently unable to convince either the audience from all over Europe or the jury with their song “Blood & Glitter”. And that despite the fact that they were chosen as candidates for the Eurovision Song Contest in March on the NDR program “Unser Lied für Liverpool”, primarily because of the audience rating. The Norddeutscher Rundfunk now wants to find out why the German ESC act failed again this year.
Lord of the Lost live at the ESC:
Andreas Gerling, head of the ARD team for the contest at NDR, said in one statements, Germany “started with an extraordinary act that didn’t achieve the result we wanted at all. It’s very, very disappointing and sobering.” Gerling also announced that he wanted to “discuss and consider why this title didn’t catch on at the ESC”. The broadcaster has not yet announced any details about the debacle analysis.
He also thanked the BBC, the city of Liverpool and Lord of the Lost, “who enthusiastically embarked on this unusual ESC adventure with us.” incredibly beautiful event prevails. We were allowed to stand on one of the biggest stages in the world, we were allowed to fulfill a childhood dream and we were allowed to meet so many wonderful people; and nothing in the world can spoil this experience for us,” they concluded. The group is now looking forward to their second tour together with Iron Maiden.
