Evening News reported on Wednesday that the prosecutor has filed criminal charges Esa from Tikka against.
According to IS, the five-time Stanley Cup champion is suspected of gross tax fraud. The matter is being heard in the district court of Länsi-Uusimaa, but the date for the hearing has not yet been set.
Iltalehti could not reach Tikkas to comment on the matter on Wednesday.
Iltalehti reported on the matter in 2021, after the Länsi-Uusimaa district court seized property from Esa Tikkase for 168,000 euros. The decision was later overturned.
Tikkanen’s lawyer Paul Perovuo commented in 2021 that it was a misunderstanding and Tikkanen denies his guilt.
– Tikkanen denies having committed a crime, but due to misunderstandings, he has most obviously incurred a tax debt to the state, Perovuo said in 2021.
– He has been an ice hockey player by profession and at the same time received income from the work he did abroad. He has not realized that no taxes have been paid on it.
