Erling Haaland would grab a hat trick again – the City legend’s homecoming ended miserably

Erling Haaland never gets tired of goals.

From the beginning of the week, Haaland practically single-handedly destroyed RB Leipzig’s Champions League dream. The Norwegian striker scored no fewer than five goals in the net of the energy drink giant’s football club, and the manager Pep Guardiola replaced the man.

– If he breaks all the records already at the age of 22, the rest of his life will be boring, Guardiola reasoned.

However, on Saturday, the Catalan coach let Haaland go again, when Burnley, who leads the Championship by far, came to visit the Etihad.

Burnley’s manager is a former City captain and four-time Premier League champion Vincent Kompany. According to Guardiola, it is certain that the Belgian will one day become his successor at the City helm.

On Saturday, however, there was a rare rude homecoming.

Kompany watched as Haaland scored a hat-trick in less than an hour. Guardiola replaced him again right after that. The home team’s power didn’t dry up because Julian Alvarez (twice) and Cole Palmer doubled the winning numbers to 6–0.

This week, Haaland completed a goal in his two games 15 minutes and 45 seconds apart.

– Every goal means a lot to me. A 6-0 win over a very good Burnley team is an incredible performance. I’m really happy that we’re going to Wembley, Haaland told the BBC.

– I haven’t set any goals. I’m a striker, and I love them, he continued.

Haaland has scored 42 goals in 38 matches this season.

Everton, who are on the verge of relegation in the Premier League, took a point away from Chelsea. Ellis Sims tied the 2-2 ending numbers Abdoulaye Doucouré from a pass in the penultimate minute of regular time.

Tottenham also continued their roller-coaster season as they drew 3-3 with league jumbo Southampton.
