Erica neighborhood concerned about housing plan: ‘Intimidation went a bridge too far for us’

Arvid Lange, the sales agent on behalf of the developer, describes the reaction from the neighborhood as ‘a bit of a shame.’ According to him, this is still a very premature plan and the procedure is still ongoing. It is one thing that local residents want to be more involved in the plans. “But for now we can’t take them anywhere. There is little to say.”

The plans were presented last year in a church in Erica. The intention is to build five detached houses, four semi-detached houses (eight houses) and five micro bungalows on the site. There was great interest, De Lange remembers. “I estimate that about 150 people showed up.” Anyone who wanted to be kept informed could register.

The fact that there was intimidation is new to De Lange. “It’s the first time I’ve heard this.” In any case, De Lange himself was not present at that alleged moment, he says.

Does the developer still plan to enter into discussions with the neighborhood to clear the air? The chance of that is small. “We don’t have much more to report yet. But there will probably be another information evening and then everyone will be invited again.” De Lange expects this to happen later this year.
