Tasos Douvikas has secured his desired transfer. The Greek attacker exchanges FC Utrecht for the Spanish Celta de Vigo. The transfer of the top scorer of the last Eredivisie season involves a record amount of more than ten million euros for Utrecht. An oral agreement has already been reached.
The record of Quinten Timber, who switched to Feyenoord for around eight million euros last year, will therefore disappear from the books. Douvikas has been regularly associated with other clubs in recent weeks. The Spanish Celta de Vigo grants the international his transition to a European top competition.
Douvikas became top scorer in the Eredivisie last season with nineteen goals, together with PSV player Xavi Simons. The 24-year-old striker was not yet accurate this season. Utrecht took over the attacker from the Greek Voloz in 2021. Before that, Douvikas played for Asteras Tripolis. In his first premier league season, Douvikas was accurate nine times.
Larsen Beach
Douvikas is not the first premier league striker to move to Celta de Vigo. Last year, the Spanish mid-engine pulled the wallet for FC Groningen attacker Jörgen Strand Larsen. He was there five times accurate in his first season.
Douvikas is no longer there on Sunday when FC Utrecht meets PEC Zwolle in Overijssel.
